CFBH February Newsletter
Happy Rainy February!
February is gonna be a fun one, mainly because of the CrossFit Open!
But before we jump into that, let’s give our CFBH February babies a little shout out!
The CrossFit Open (AKA “The Open”), the biggest 5 weeks of CrossFit, starts on Feb 21st.
Each Thursday, of the 5 week Open, CrossFit releases a workout hundreds of thousands of athletes complete all around the globe, in search of the “Fittest Man and Woman on Earth”!
To see where you stand amongst other Athletes in the globe, then sign up for the Official CrossFit Open here ($20).
**The Open is a separate competition than the CFBH Open: Team Series**
Every FRIDAY, starting Feb 22nd, CFBH will be hosting “Friday Night Lights” to do The Open workout, from 4pm to 730pm. Athletes will sign up for heats on a first come, first serve basis.
CFBH uses these workouts to find the “Fittest in CFBH”, (AKA the “CFBH Open”). The CFBH Open differs from The Open in a few ways this year…
#1. The Open has an “RX” and “Scaled” level workout. While the divisions are great, they are on 2 opposite ends of a workout spectrum. The CFBH Open will have those same two divisions, plus an additional division we’re calling “Intermediate” that will be between RX and Scaled. The 3 divisions will be very similar to the 3 levels that we offer in our CF classes.
#2. The CFBH Open will be Teams!!!! Each of the teams will be led by CFBH Coaches! The team with the most points at the end of the 5 weeks will be crowned the fittest team of CFBH.
**Number of athletes per team and number of Coaches leading the team will be determined by the number of participants.**
Every year the CrossFit Open has been a huge community event at CrossFit Belmont Heights.
In October, we had over 70 athletes sign up for the Half-Way Open CFBH Open and participate in Friday Night Lights (FNL).
This year, the competition will be In-House only, and each Friday night is going to be lit!
So, mark your calendars for this year!

Details of the CFBH Team Series:
We will have 5-7 teams for our in-house FNL Team Series. Each of the teams will be led by 1-2 CFBH Coaches. The paired up Coaches are TBD.
On Feb 14 – Feb 20th, registered Athletes will spin a wheel containing the names of the Coaches. Whatever Coach your spin lands on will be team you will join. (Think wheel of fortune). Once that team is full, the Coach’s names will be removed. When teams are completed, team colors and names will be chosen.
Any Athlete that doesn’t spin the wheel before 2/20 will be randomly assigned to a team.
Each week will have a corresponding theme:
Week 1 – Friday, Feb. 22nd – 80’s 👨🏼🎤👩🏽🎤
Week 2 – Friday, Feb. 29th – Sports Team (Jersey Night) ⚾️🏈🏀⚽️
Week 3 – Friday, Mar. 8th – Military, Camouflage, Police/Fire Night 👮🏼♀️👮🏽♂️👩🏻🚒👨🏾🚒
Week 4 – Friday, Mar. 15th – Team Spirit (decide with your team, make your own shirts, etc.) 🦄🦄
Week 5 – Friday, Mar. 22nd – CFBH Box Night! Wear your favorite CFBH Shirts! 🏋🏼♂️🏋🏽♀️💪🏽
CFBH Team Series Point System:
Teams will compete for points over the 5 weeks, which will result in one grand prize winning team. The winning team will have their team name engraved on a trophy and picture on the wall at the gym.
Here’s how you can get points.
Weeks 2, 3, and 4 will be a Potluck!
We will select 2 teams to host the potluck and bring in food for everyone to enjoy! Teams will earn 2 Pts for every meal brought in that serves 12 people. Teams will max out at 10 points for the Potluck. The potluck points will be calculated at the end of the 5-weeks and go towards each team’s final point total.
Those are all the CFBH Open: Team Series details. If you have any questions, feel free to post them on Facebook or shoot an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
We’re looking forward to a kick-ass February! Don’t miss out!
